The app, available for iOS and Android devices, lets you control your fridge from anywhere in world, and it has a ton of customization options. It also sends you notifications when doors are left open, when your fridge or freezer is in need of defrosting, and when it's time to change the filter. It would be nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS included Precise fill, an option available in other GE fridges that allow you to set the number of cups of water you'd like to disperse at once. The fridge shows a countdown to display how much water is left but it's not as useful as Precise Fill. Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator Created to appear like a seamless piece of your kitchen, Bosch's French-door refrigerator is an eye-catching piece. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also features a veggie compartment that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer periods, and two compressors for preserving food items. The ice maker is one of the best we've ever tested and produces pyramid-shaped ice with a low use of water. This fridge is ideal for a single household or kitchenette that needs an attractive design and top of the highest quality food preservation. This fridge was rated the most efficient in our Refrigerators Test due to a variety of reasons. Its freezer temperatures held firm at just above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, and never moving more than a fraction of an inch. This is essential to avoiding freezer burn. The refrigerator section of the fridge also did well. It reached the initial temperature within an hour, and remained at that temperature throughout our testing. Bosch is known for its high-end appliances. Therefore, it's not a surprise that the Bosch counter depth fridge can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's platform Home Connect. You can manage the temperature, lighting and more of your fridge from your smartphone. It's a nice way to control and monitor your refrigerator, especially if you're away from home. The Smart InstaView feature is neat however it doesn't enhance the efficiency of the fridge. In fact, it took longer to defrost and chill food in this fridge than some of the others we test. This could be due to the larger capacity. The doors are another problem with this fridge. The handles that are sunken allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However taller people have a hard time closing them without slamming them. It would have been better if they came with a front-mounted handle. The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is a great choice for those looking to combine the look and feel of a French-door refrigerator with more efficient design. Its capacity is above average for a counter-depth model, and it cools evenly and has a good layout. It's also a little cheaper than the best counter-depth refrigerator with an ice maker, which can make it an attractive option. Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator If you're looking for a French door fridge that doesn't cost a fortune, this Frigidaire is a solid option. It's a minimalist design that's not as striking visually as some of the competition however it comes with enough features to make it a solid choice. Its main characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer, which helps keep foods like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also has a large water dispenser as well as a good ice machine that works fast. The “Chill Drawer”, which sits above the two crisper bins, is another excellent feature. This drawer lets you divert some of the refrigerator's cooling power directly to this area, which means you can store foods that require extra attention. This feature can be adjusted by using an outside slider that is located inside the drawer. It is also possible to use this to adjust the general cooling settings for the entire fridge, though I've found that adjusting the general settings tends to have a better effect than specific ones. In my tests, I discovered that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent in different areas of the fridge. Temperatures at the top and bottom of the fridge didn't stray very far from 38 degrees, and the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36.
